Beyoncé is a superstar in her own category. Not only is she a super talented singer, dancer and entertainer- she is a trend setter. This mega star has some of the most dedicated fans in the world who fill stadiums to the hilt and have no problem fighting her fights (cough cough, Ciara). I am sure most of the “Beyhive” know about some of these tidbits, but if you are just starting to stan Beyoncé, here are some fun facts to get you started.

1. This goddess prefers to wear simple t-shirts.
It is hard to think of any other celebrity that does glam better than Beyoncé. Her performance and award show outfits are always trendy the next day. But if it was up to this dive, she would wear t-shirts every day. She told InStyle magazine, “My favorite is a single white T. I always pick up James Pierce white T-shirts. I have like 100 of them.” If they are good enough for this starlet, they are good enough for everyone else!

2. Beyoncé’s first fragrance had notes of creamy rice pudding in it.
This singer is no stranger to creating successful perfumes, with hits like Heat and Pulse. No wonder they always smell so good with hints of dessert like rice pudding! Beyoncé’s first perfume, True Star, was a collaboration with American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger. Since then she has broken away for collaborations so that she can create the perfume that she wants without any other opinions counting.

3. Beyoncé has a perfume allergy.
We know how ridiculous it sounds after our last fact. But this diva has to have all of her scents chemically altered so that she does not have an allergic reaction like hives. We can’t help but wonder if her three fragrances have the same chemical makeup.

4. She was teased over her ears.
Kids are mean. And stupid. While in grade school, this super star was teased over her ears because they were “bigger than my head”, she told People magazine. Well, either they shrunk or she grew into them because her ears look perfect to the rest of the world. I bet those kids are still kicking themselves to this day!
5. Beyoncé has final say on decor.
Beyoncé and her super star hubby, Jay-Z, have a very specific aesthetic. From their clothing to their products, there is a certain flair to all of it. But when it comes down to the final say, Queen Bey rules the roost. Jay-Z once told Rolling Stone magazine that she made him take pack a photo because it was “noirishly lit pistol with a pair of women’s legs emerging from the handle.” If you know anything about Beyoncé, it is that she is a big supporter of female empowerment. She took one look at the art and made him find a new piece for their 8,000-square-foot NYC penthouse.
6. She is a John Lennon fan.
Beyoncé has been singing and performing from a very young age. Her father was her manager and her mother was her costume designer and stylist. When she was only seven years old, she sang a simple version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” instead of the R&B, soul and hip-hop music that she is known for. Needless to say that she got a standing ovation.

7. Beyoncé really likes rock music.
This next tidbit makes sense now that we know her first performance was “Imagine”. Even though she is a chart topper with her soul, hip-hop and R&B tunes, she openly admits she loves good rock music with Peter Gabriel being her favorite. His voice is so pure. Listen to “In Your Eyes” she gushed to OK! magazine. She went to explain that it is “the guitars, the phrasing, and the abandon of rock fans.” That she loves so much.

8. Jay-Z bought her a 1959 Rolls Royce convertible for her Birthday.

When you are some of the richest people in the world, why not go big for birthdays? On her 25th birthday, her soon to be husband bought her this incredible car. That was five years ago. We care barely stand the suspense of what she will get for her 30th birthday present!

9. Beyoncé surfs the web as much as we do.

Beyoncé is the first to admit that she is on the internet as much as the rest of us. As she is always on the road with tours or appearances, she reads mobile versions of her favorite sites. She checks out The New York Times to get her daily news. Pitchfork and Pandora keep her up to date with music. As for fashion and design? We just need to get her reading our site now.

10. Beyoncé is a regular Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is known for his iconic plays about human nature and his ability to influence and change literature. Beyoncé knows a thing or two about changing literature as she officially created a new word for the Oxford Dictionary! Remember her Destiny’s Child hit single, “Bootylicious”? Well, that sucker is canonized in the dictionary for future generations to come.
